In the tile and stone industry, it is not uncommon to find products available from all over the world, and one tends to forget how many beautiful materials the United States creates.  Seneca Tile has been producing handmade tile in Ohio since 1978, using methods and kilns that date back to 1906.  Since Seneca makes all materials by hand, it allows the true characteristics of the clay and glazes to emerge, which is all but lost, in mass production.  The tiles are made one at a time, involving a “labor-intensive, slow, skilled process,” capturing the warmth and unique qualities of a handmade product.
